Ping
JaikuFans.com runs a ping service that developers can use to monitor Jaiku's availability. Every five minutes we post a Jaiku to our private stream and then wait for it to appear. Feeds are available from http://jaikufans.net/ping/(js|json|xml). The JaikuFans.com website uses the .js feed, feel free to use and modify the scripts in the headers of this page to access and use that feed from any other website. By providing a .js version, cross-site permissions are not an issue.
